Wait, it's really free?
Yes — download, install, and use the best-move arrow and evaluation on Chess.com and Lichess without paying anything or creating an account.
Why isn't it on the Chrome Web Store?
Chrome's store rejects engine-assist extensions for chess on principle. The code is exactly the same code we'd ship to the store — you load it unpacked in chrome://extensions in 30 seconds. The steps above show exactly how.
Is it safe to enable Developer mode?
Yes. Developer mode just lets Chrome load extensions from a folder on your computer instead of the store. It doesn't change any security settings, doesn't expose your data, and you can turn it off any time. The extension folder you load is the only thing it affects.
Will I get banned on Chess.com?
Use it for analysis, casual games and post-game review. Using engine assistance on rated games violates Chess.com and Lichess Terms of Service — that's on you. The extension has a Hide Suggestions toggle precisely so you can train without it.
Does it work on Lichess?
Yes — same feature set as Chess.com: best-move arrow, evaluation, multi-line, Auto Play. It runs locally in your browser; nothing about your Lichess account is sent to us.
Does it work on Edge, Brave, or Opera?
Yes. Anything Chromium-based supports the same Load unpacked flow. The page might be edge://extensions or brave://extensions, but the rest of the steps are identical.
